  • Overview

    An experience writer uses words to craft exceptional customer experiences and advocates for user-centered content throughout the design process. They work closely with our designers and clients to plan and create cohesive language that drives business value while helping customers accomplish their goals.


    Successful experience writers have a deep understanding of the role language plays in digital experiences. Part skilled practitioner, part strategist, they bring an enthusiasm for all aspects of digital content planning and creation— from brand voice guidelines and content style guides to editorial workflows and governance.


    • Writing and editing clear, useful copy for websites and interfaces
    • Creating detailed content outlines and prototypes
    • Conducting content audits and competitive research
    • Collaborating with designers on site maps, navigation schemes, and UI copy
    • Leading and participating in content planning, creation and governance exercises on projects
    • Creating content-related documentation including content vision statements, message architectures and style guides
    • Helping clients align their content to their business goals and users’ needs
    • Educating colleagues and clients on the role of content in experience design and advocating for the value of upfront content planning
    • Conducting discovery interviews with stakeholders and subject matter experts
    • Assisting with user research and analyzing findings to identify content needs
    • Researching content strategy and UX writing trends and best practices
    • Performing other duties as assigned


    • 3+ years of experience planning and creating content for digital experiences, preferably with an emphasis on product and servicing content and/or marketing content for complex industries
    • Experience working directly with designers and technologists
    • Familiarity and comfort with user-centered design methods and a strong understanding of how content fits into the design process
    • Strong ability to analyze and synthesize inputs (e.g. research, business goals, user needs) into clear language about complex subjects
    • Prior experience with enterprise CMS platforms and structured content
    • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
    • Strong client-facing presentation and communication abilities
    • Ability to define and write to a specific brand voice
    • Attention to detail, with strong editing and proofreading skills
    • Curiosity, tenacity, and flexibility in challenging situations
    • Willingness to experiment with tools and methods to suit our clients’ needs
    • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities and ask for help when needed
    • Familiarity/comfort with Agile project methodologies
    • An interest in using data to drive content decisions
    • Working knowledge of InDesign, Sketch and associated design tools a plus
    • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in English/humanities, journalism, library science, technical communication, HCI, or similar field preferred
